HISTORY
1989 Applied Thermal Sciences is founded.
1998 ATS is incorporated and headquarters are established in Sanford, Maine.
1999 ATS receives its first federal contract researching innovative interceptor component technologies.
2000 ATS headquarters expands and builds a 39-node Beowulf cluster in-house; ATS opens offices in the Target Technology Center in Orono, Maine.
2002 ATS expands and develops hybrid laser welding facility and machine shop at the technology Center in Sanford, Maine.
2003 First HiPerTEC prototype successfully operated in 2 stroke cycle mode.
2005 ATS awarded patents for HiPerTEC engine technology and fluent control valves; ATS explores commercialization of hybrid laser welding technology.
2006 ATS successfully operates HiPerTEC Free Piston Engine in 4 stroke cycle mode. ATS awarded laser welding patent.
2007 ATS wins 3-yr, $14.5 mil award from General Dynamics/Bath Iron Works for producing hybrid laser welded panels for US Navy DDG 1000.
2008 ATS wins 2008 Department of Defense Manufacturing Technology Development Award for Hybrid Laser Welding Technology.
